Geoffrey Mugendi, a 40-year-old father of two and professional roofer, was shot by police during the [[2025 Saba Saba Protests]] while seeking safety in Kiambu. Though he was not actively protesting, he was struck by a bullet allegedly fired by a police officer dispersing demonstrators.

According to his friend Melkizedik Mchasia:

<blockquote>“Kidogo kidogo nilianza kuskia risasi, askari alitoka akanishoot… lakini ikapiga rafiki yangu Geoffrey.”  
(“Little by little I began to hear gunshots, a police officer came and shot me… but it hit my friend Geoffrey.”)</blockquote>

The gunshot caused critical damage, and Geoffrey’s leg was amputated at Kenyatta National Hospital.

His wife, speaking to local media, described the devastating aftermath:
