He was among the victims of the Saba Saba Day protests on 7 July 2025, a series of nationwide demonstrations against police brutality, corruption, and economic hardship.

Early life and education

Brian Kimutai Bitok was born and raised in Kitengela, Kajiado County. He was a student at the University of Nairobi and also worked as a bodaboda rider to support his education and family.

Death

On 7 July 2025, during the Saba Saba Day protests, Brian Kimutai Bitok was shot and killed in Kitengela. His death was part of a broader pattern of fatalities during the protests, which saw at least 43 people killed nationwide, including university students, schoolchildren, and other civilians.

Aftermath

Following his death, Brian's family and community mourned his loss. A postmortem examination was conducted to determine the exact cause of death. His family has publicly called for justice and accountability for his killing.
