Shot Dead Outside Parliament (JuneāÆ25,āÆ2024)


EricssonāÆKyaloāÆMutisya (c.āÆ1998ā2024), a 25āyearāold butcher and Sunday school teacher, was shot and killed by police at Kenya's Parliament on **25 JuneāÆ2024**, during GenāÆZ protests opposing the Finance Bill.
Incident
On 25 June 2024, protestors breached the Parliament grounds in Nairobi. As they exited, security forces opened live fire. Video and eyewitness footage confirmed that Ericssonāwearing a white overall and visibly unarmedādanced peacefully before being hit in the head by a bullet. Legal Status
As of midā2025:
- The **Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA)** forwarded Ericsson's case to the **Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP)**, but no charges had been filed.
