Braxton Omae Mogesi was a 23-year-old man from Kisii County whose body was discovered in late June 2024 during the nationwide upheaval linked to the Finance Bill protests.

Incident & Death

Braxton was abducted by unknown assailants on the night of **2 July 2024**, reportedly accused of being brought from Nairobi to protest in Kisii. His body was found on **5 July** in the Nyahera area near the Kisii–Homa Bay border, showing signs of strangulation (circular neck bruise), head and neck cuts, shoulder injuries, and evidence of blood loss. According to the post-mortem, his death resulted from strangulation. His family asserts he was not involved in the protests and had been residing in Kisii for months.

Public Documentation

Braxton’s name also appears on a petition circulated on Change.org (#57), which initially stated he had been shot in the head during a protest on 27 June 2024β€”a claim later contradicted by his family’s testimony and medical findings.
