Brighton was a 7-month-old boy living in Kibera, Nairobi, who tragically died after exposure to tear gas during anti-government protests in March 2023.

According to reports by Human Rights Watch, police fired tear gas into residential areas while pursuing protesters. Brighton's mother, Jackline Moraa, stated that the tear gas entered their home, causing Brighton to develop severe respiratory issues including persistent cough and fever. Despite seeking medical attention at multiple hospitals, Brighton's condition worsened and he passed away on April 4, 2023.

Medical professionals suspect that exposure to tear gas contributed to his death, highlighting the severe consequences of excessive police force on innocent civilians, especially children.
