Kennedy β€œKenneth” Njeru Mwangi (c.β€―2005 – 25 June 2024) was a 19‑year-old Kenyan protester shot dead during the storming of Parliament in Nairobi amid demonstrations against the 2024 Finance Bill.

Death during Protests

On **25 June 2024**, Kennedy participated in protests led by Generation Z demonstrators aiming to reject unpopular tax proposals. He was shot in the **head** shortly after protesters breached Parliament grounds, dying instantly.

Family & Funeral

Kennedy was the eldest son of **Joseph Mwangi Njeru** and **Mary Muthoni**, both of Kirinyaga County. He had recently secured a welding job and was about to send his first salary home. His body was later recovered at the **City Mortuary in Nairobi**, where his grieving parents identified him.

His father recalled: > β€œHis first salary is what we used to buy his coffin and transport the body from Nairobi to Kirinyaga.”

Legal & Human Rights Response

The **Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA)** listed Kennedy among the confirmed fatalities during the Nairobi protest storming. Families have recorded statements and demanded accountability, but no arrests had been reported as of mid‑2025.
